My observation on the bridges over the river.

I can't believe the thought process about the bridge tolls (one way or the old way). Lee County thought we were losing money because people would go over one way and back over the free bridge. Maybe a few would; if you lived up in that area.  Otherwise the cost of gas and your time would make that silly.

1.  Traffic is lighter than 1 or 2 years ago.  Of course it is. Without all the construction vehicles; roofers, framers, drywall, landscapers, plumbers, etc. that were everywhere 2 years ago.  Well, I figure that has to be 1000 trips a day or more we are down.

2.  We have a ton of foreclosures in Cape Coral and Fort Myers.  Many of those would be the same people that are out of work and left the area to find work.  Now we don't even have their personal vehicles.

3.  Those same people are not shopping at the stores, eating at the restaurants so businesses are suffering and have laid off some of their staff.  Those people are in the same boat.  They need to find work or have just cut back traveling and going out.

4.  The toll arms are gone. That saves a lot of time from stopping, waiting for the arm to go up and then go down.  Now you just go.  What a concept; Less time getting either direction.

Also less staffing.  Let's see; Save time/Save money. WOW!

I'm not a rocket scientist but it just goes to show you government can make everything difficult. Why did we need a survey?
