The benefits of the CRS Designation

When a consumer selects a CRS designee to work with, he or she can be certain that they are working with a well educated, top-producing residential specialist.  Those three letters behind the name show that the REALTOR has both education and experience.

On a personal level, CRS has provided some of the best referrals I have received over the years. The Council itself has enabled me to make life-long friends and to network several times a year with like-minded professionals.

I would like to suggest that if it has been a few years since you took your last CRS course, you need to enroll again.  The contents of all the courses have been totally updated  to keep them "fresh" and beneficial in today's marketplace. The curriculum is geared to stay current with our needs so that we are enabled to be the best residential sales agents in the business!

Don't forget - the Council now has two on-line courses. Their availablility means you can enhance your knowledge anytime of the day or night :-)

Schedule time away from the office now to attend the national CRS meetings in May and November. You will leave with more great marketing ideas than you can imagine and a superb group of new friends form across the country!

CRS has some of the best courses I have ever taken.  What is even more important and beneficial is the contacts and relationships you make while attending the CRS courses.  I highly recommend taking the CRS courses out of your area and ideally out of your state.  This may sound strange but you will be able to make so many more contacts when you are not surrounded by other agents in your market.  I brought boxes of Hershey Bars with my business card stickers on them and passed them out after each break.  I promise you that EVERY agent and Each of the speakers knew me  and my service market before the sessions were over.

Hi Mary,

Thank you for the post.  This is so true.  I received a referral a week ago.  The referring agent said that he chose me because I have my CRS designation.  I continue to attend CRS courses and always learn something new.

Mary-
Welcome to AR. I am very happy to be a CRS and really have enjoyed the CRS classes I took in person. Have you taken any of the online classes? I didn't find them particularly helpful.
As for Sam's comment about the hershey bars. I would be careful about soliciting agents like this. Most of the time I go to a large class, someone blankets the room with their cards. This feels like SPAM to me and I won't refer a client just because I have your card. I refer to people who I know, like and trust. A little personal interaction is invaluable.

Geordie,

I agree about trying to get to know people during breaks, etc. If I have met someone at a function or a class and then see their face while searching for a Realtor to send a referral, I will remember them and probably choose them.
