The ActiveRain Holiday Fun and Cheer December Challenge inspired by both Carol Williams and Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker prompted me to share one annual tradition that shows up on our Christmas tree.
My dad Larry is a retired elementary school art teacher. He taught for 35 years in the Fulton (New York) School District. These days he still tinkers with arts and crafts. Each year he creates a handmade ornament for us.
In this photo you can see samples of them (sorry, we were not motivated to put too many ornaments on the tree this year).
This year, dad gave us a Mr. and Mrs. Claus. You'll also see a penguin in the upper left from a previous year.
Perhaps next year we'll feel more inspired to deck the tree out in more handmade ornaments.
One ornament in particular I am fond of is a sled that he made from popsicle sticks, painted red and put each of our names on them in silver.
Hard to believe in just a few days we'll be taking down andboxing up our holiday decorations for another year.
