Ugly houses - for your weekend chuckle.

6-20 ugly houses
We've all seen 'em - those buildings where you just shake your head and wonder what the builder was thinking. Places that are so ugly or boxy or just plain strange that you get a shiver in your spine just trying to figure out what the problem is.  Well I collect pictures of those kinds of places - just like weird foods and road signs and toilets - so here, for your weekend entertainment, are a few classics I put together for you. Enjoy.
windowsSome homes are just the victim of poor planning. One guy working outside - one guy working inside, both drinking heavily - well you get the picture.

sloant windowsFor some reason windows seem to be particularly troublesome. It's the whole thing about lining them up vertically and then horizontally and it's easy to forget the square part.

handicap

Doors can be just as much of a problem. One guy working inside, another working outside  -  plans are a little hazy. But hey, at least they're honest - if you're not handicapped before the fire you sure will be afterward.

streetlightAnother planning casualty. Which came first - the streetlight or the building? Those crazy Europeans. On the positive side, it does double duty as a fire escape for the first two floors - that's assuming you don't just fall off the edge of the balcony. Nice.

studentQuality College Housing indeed. Getting that liberal arts grad used to all the finer things in life they'll be able to afford. Would you like fries with that?

upside downThis was Dorothy's neighbors house. As you may know, Dorothy landed softly on the Wicked Witch of the East and she and her little dog Toto found the Wizard and got back home safely. They made a documentary about that. Dorothy's neighbor, on the other hand... Well, it's not a pretty story and there's several good reasons they didn't make this into a children's classic.

crazyWhat? You don't see the problem here? That little porthole window is not spaced equidistant between the first and second floor. It throws off the symmetry of the whole building.

Have a great weekend Rainers. Keep the positive thoughts flowing. The market is turning.

Gene,  Thank you for the pictures.  They made me ask what were they thinking?  Especially, the first one with misplaced windows.  Hmmm???

The quality colege housing is better than some offered at some of Michigan's schools.

Strange as it may seem, there is probably a buyer for any property anywhere, if the price is right.

As they say in the car biz - there's a butt for every seat and vice versa.

I'd like to know where these places are so I don't ever have to go there.  Everything seems to have taken a 'hit of acid'.

Gene

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to real estate.  To each his own but if they are priced right they will move.

by the way, Do you have an outside blog that I can add to my Blogroll ?

Thanks and look forward to reading your thoughts on the world of real estate.
