      Ask An Ambassador
  - Tuesday Techie Tidbit -
Blog Editor Colors/Typefaces

         Volume One - Number Two

As the "devs" continue to work on the Blog Editor and deliver enhancements, AR Bloggers have the opportunity to learn new techniques. It took me a few tries but I think I've mastered the adding colors changes for posts and LOVE IT!

Please add other tips for this color feature in the comments. I am confident that others have found even more ways to use it than I have so far.

1.  The at the top of the image above near the title indicates where the text color dropdown menu may be located. (The arrow here, by the way, is available via the Ω icon among the "command buttons" on the "toolbar". And the symbols button offers a search bar - easy to type in what is wanted!

2.
After I highlighted a word, I clicked on the color I wanted. The color chosen shows up as a color bar under the "A" after it is selected.

3.
If I want to remove the color and return to black, there are two options. I may re-highlight the word in color and then click on the black square. Newly added, there is the option to highlight the word and then click on the "slash" which will remove the color and the word returns to black.

4.
Another feature is really exciting!
Click on the icon of the artist palette and become that artist yourself.

5.
What you see with that click are two measures: the circle indicating where the color is in the large block on left and the NUMBERS that compose that color. Now they are all "0" so the color block at the bottom right is black. In addition, you see a bar of color options with a slider.

6.
To demonstrate how one may change to an UNLIMITED RANGE of colors now as all the new features roll out, I left-clicked and held the cursor on the circle so I could move it. Numbers change and the square at the bottom right changes to the selected color.

7.

To demonstrate another way to change the color, I moved the sliding bar on the center color range bar. The large square on the bottom right will adapt to the new selection. The circle adjusts to the move. Still possible to move circle if a slight color adjustment is wanted.

8.    OK - yes -
I am really excited about how easily the new option works. Look at this - now the blue chosen and the green chosen appear in the Color Picker chart - ready and waiting if I want to use that exact same color again. (If you look at the images in #3 and #4, you see the pre-programmed colors available,)

Somewhere in my memory, I remember a class with Bob Stewart (or was it with  Bob Stewart ?) where he suggested not using colors and then only red if one HAD TO HAVE color. Wonder if I am remembering that properly? Now the colors we may use are unlimited!

9.
While we are on the subject of colors, let's look at the new capacity to choose colors for HIGHLIGHTING. Yup - the entire palette is available in this option the same as it is available for the text option.

ONE MORE TIDBIT --- Although not about colors - many different typefaces are available now for AR Bloggers to use - 14 in English plus one in Greek and both Webdings and Wingdings.

Enjoy your day! All the best - Lynn

Good morning Lynn B. Friedman interesting stuff. I would have thought after Ben's last AR call that we would not have this option except for agent only blogs.

And the more we know about how to get the "techie" side to function easily, the more we may focus on content and - as you say - get "more attention..." All the best - Lynn

Lynn there is a number of useful new tools available to us now on AR.  We use to be very limited in the comment section especially text color & size, but now much of what is available in writing a blog is also available in comments.

There won't be any text color changes in the new roll out but I'm sure you can use highlighted words for links etc. I didn't know about the custom color feature. Thanks.
