On Inauguration Day January 20, Joseph Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States, with Kamala Harris as Vice President.
Artists including John Legend, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake performed during the event, with coverage on multiple broadcast and online networks.
The incoming president-elect traditionally becomes the offical President at noon on January 20th, after the swearing-in ceremony, according to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
Personally, it's interesting that there is more racial tension and concern for violence over Joe Biden's inauguration in 2021 than there was for the first African-American president Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
Here is my prayer:
"Lord God, Creator of all people, help us set aside past differences, wake up to the realities of today, and forgive one another as we move forward together to build 'a more perfect union'. Please grant a spirit of peace, harmony and cooperation to all of the people of America today and in the future, in Jesus' name amen."
A major public art display titled a "Field of Flags" will be installed on the National Mall, featuring 191,500 U.S. flags and 56 pillars of light meant to symbolize every U.S. state and territory, and “the American people who are unable to travel” to the capital to celebrate.
