Saturday was a beautiful day- I was showing homes in Baltimore City- due to a lot of inventory and limited parking, it makes sense to park and walk. My client and I viewed 4 homes and then returned to my vehicle. As we approached I turned to her to question my leaving the drivers side window open- I didn't think I had!

As we got closer I realized that it was not my oversight, but some pleasant person had targeted my truck to break into. IN BROAD DAYLIGHT ON A BUSY STREET. On my passenger side seat was a meaty brick and the entire vehicle was covered in shattered glass. All my papers were thrown around and my consul was empty.

THAT SUCKS!

Over an hour later and four glass induced blood lettings, we headed back to the office. The local PD had made an appearance and took an emotionless report. The loot that was stolen was my hand held PC phone that I elected not to carry with me, my driving license, my check book and a new phone that I had recently purchased but not activated yet, a DVD case of "Thomas the Tank Engine" and "Bob the Builder" and the Chevy Tahoe Manual (?????) Is there a market for those?

So today I am lost. I have no phone- a replacement will not arrive until Thursday. The glass people do not arrive until Monday and I had to show homes today.

Thanks for listening to my pity party!!!!!

Just be thankful those things can be replaced...some person lost their life today and that is far worse then a few items....

When I think this way, my troubles are nothing....

I think I actually brushed it off pretty well at the time. My absolute saving grace is that my phone syncs with my outlook account- I think I would have to be heavily medicated if my contact list of over 400 names and numbers was only in my phone!

Ellie at least it didn't rain today.  The PD needs more sensitivity training.  They tend to go through the motions with no thought on how you the victim feels.  Hope they catch the thief. Remember you get what you give in this life and they will get nothing good for their deeds to you and your property.

Ellie,

As a retired State Trooper Sergeant, I LOVED to arrest a thief.  Our society will take care of anyone who needs it with lots of charities (free food, free housing, free medical, free school, free clothes, etc.).  CREEPS THAT STEAL THINGS SUCK.

I should take the high road and pray for them, but actually I hope they cut themselves on the broken glass and really bleed and get an infection.

The important things are that your beautiful family on the side of this page are healthy and good.

Thanks Gary, I'm actually glad they did not cut themselves as cleaning up blood is far less attractive than just glass.

Sometimes you just have to be thankful that no one was hurt and realize that you can replace everything that was stolen.  I'm sure you have called the bank about your checkbook and the phone company about the phones.  Sounds like you kept your cool which had to be hard to do.

Thanks Cindy- actually it could have been a lot worse- I am thankful they did not smash my GPS and rip out my son's beloved DVD player.

There are far more hardships a person has to endure.

They took Thomas?!  Cretins!

Yeah, Ellie, that sucks huge.  My kid has had full blown meltdowns when Thomas is not readily available.

Have you begun to monitor your credit?... the license can be used to create new credit accounts- I have a post on my blog about what to do if this happens.
