Why Are There Words?

Why Are There Words?

Yesterday, Melissa Jackson asked in the Q&A section about the words in Wordless Wednesday. And it is a very good question.

Because by its name (Wordless Wednesday) it would imply that no words were involved. Here’s a link to the Group, which started in October of 2008.

Over the years, Wordless Wednesday has morphed into what it is today. In some cases, people realized that unless there were 50 words in your post, you received no points. But for the most part, I feel that we still like to express ourselves with our words as well as our photos.  Here is one of my first Wordless Wednesday posts.

Admittedly, it’s fun to find a photo where no words are necessary.  It calls on our creative juices.

But that’s the beauty of this community. As long as your post is in line with the ActiveRain Community Guidelines, your blog is your own.  Write what you want and when you want. Write for your readers and write in your own voice.

Have fun with your blog while you’re out there trying to get business! For some helpful tips, Ron and Alexandra Seigel recently wrote this...Savvy Marketing: What Makes a Blog a Media?

Kathy,

Thank you for the mention.  I enjoy Wordless Wednesday posts, and we have had some gorgeous photo by many bloggers who have shared their travel photos  like Joanna Cohlan .  And there are those who shared the photos of their communities...And the whole SEO thing is for the Google bots, Ron and I write for those who read---humans, only.  A

I used to do Wordless Wednesday with just a picture but over the years sometimes I add words. Not necessarily the 50 words.

Kathy I can't remember the last time I posted a "Wordless Wednesday" blog.  But I think at one time AR still gave points just for a picture.  The guidelines must have changed because members were probably taking advantage of that.

My first Wordless Wednesday was in Dec 2008.

I didn't really get consistant until 2012.

Since January of 2012 I have only missed one Wednesday!

For the most part I am a Wordless purist...title only.

Sometimes there may be a few words under the picture, but very rarely do I write more than that.

I can imagine Wordless Wednesday being an odd thing to encounter when you see words all around the photo.

Morning Kathy.

I usually try and keep my posts to around 200 words.  Sometimes I little more, but not very often.  Regardless, it is fun
