For Cinnaminson residents, present and future, the welcome redevelopment of the old Cinnaminson Mall is underway!

For those not aware, there is a ~$21 million plan in the works to redevelop the Cinnaminson Mall and to reconfigure the five-point intersection between Church Road, Branch Pike, Cinnaminson Ave. and Rt. 130. A 335,000-square foot shopping center is going to be built on the old site and the highway around it improved which is currently ranked in the top 20 worst intersections in New Jersey.

This great news for area residents as the Cinnaminson Mall has been vacant for years and an eye sore to passing motorists.  For anyone who has tried to navigate that five-point intersection, it's almost as bad as trying to drive through one of New Jersey's famed Circles!  All too often I've seen people going down the wrong way of the poorly marked one way street by the gas station, and people always struggle to merge coming from Branch Pike. Neighboring Delran has just completed similar projects along Rt. 130 as Target recently opened in the revitalized Millside Plaza along with the creation of Hartford Corners.

UPDATE 5/21/07 - The new shopping center will be called The Shoppes at Cinnaminson and is scheduled to open Spring 2008.  Some of the stores currently in the plans include: Shop Rite, Ross, Starbucks, Famous Footwear, Hallmark, Wachovia & Bank of America.

Update 8/25/08 - Shop Rite is still on the list to open here.  Burlington Coat Factory has been added as well.  Starbucks has been replaced by Saxby's Coffee.  Last I heard, they were hoping to get a Sonic also.

Who is the developer of the Shoppes at Cinnaminson?  Also, who is the listing agent for the retail spaces there?  Thank-you!

Aren't all of those stores already present 1000 feet North on Rt. 130? RIDICULOUS! This center is going to be ghetto in 5 years tops.  Who would bother with the horrific intersection in Cinnaminson when you could just go to the same stores in Delran?  Why wouldn't they put in more upscale stores at this location since the site is wedged between two affluent towns; Riverton and Moorestown.  Why don't they include a book retailer?!  The Barnes & Noble in Moorestown's Eastgate center is one of the highest grossing locations in the region.  The Borders in Mt. Laurel is too far away for those of us living between Rt. 130 and the river...

STOP PUTTING THE SAME BORING STORES INTO EVERY CENTER IN NEW JERSEY> THERE'S ONLY SO MANY DISCOUNT SHOE OUTLETS, DISCOUNT CLOTHING OUTLETS, AND FOOD STORES A PERSON CAN TAKE!

About many of the stores...I have to agree with you.  From where I live in Delran, I already have 5 Starbucks to choose from within a couple of miles.  Add this one and there will be 6.  Now I love my overpriced Starbucks coffee, but I think 6 to choose from is a bit much.

Regarding the developer...it's run by a company called Centro.  From what I've read, they are the 5th largest owner of shopping centers in the US

Now I wonder... Starbucks is saying it is closing stores... perhaps one store is going to be squashed before it even opens in the Cinnaminson Mall??  Also, there are already two strip malls on the other side of Route 130 in Cinnaminson already that aren't doing so well...

I can't even tell you the last time I've been to a Hallmark store. What's the point when I can go to Target or Walmart or even the Dollar store and get cheaper cards.

I'm with you, I think that more upscale shops should be included.  How about a Pottery Barn or something similar to the Promenade. Now that would be exciting!

Will as usual Cinnaminsontownship screwed up again and Shop Rite pulled out The township commity probibly hounded the developers so bad they had no choice. Cinnaminson was the first spot Target wanted to build but, the planning commity broke their stones so bad they pulled it for the planning board and took it to Delran. You can see that shopping center is thriving very well and in spite of the economy it is renovating more stores. IF YOU HAVE EVER APPLIED FOR A PERMIT TO BUILD ANYTHING IN TOWN THEY ARE TOUGH TO DEAL WITH AND QUITE GREETY.

I agree. I want a Barnes n Noble #1! Everyone would benefit from that.

I dont think Pottery Barn would do well, that store is too pricey for the majority of people in this area.

I think stand alone "mall" stores would do well, such as GAP or Childrens Place.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PUT A FREAKING PLAY PLACE FOR KIDS IN THERE!!!! THERE ARE NONE IN THIS AREA! IF I HAD THE MONEY TO START THE BUSINESS, I WOULD.

On the comment of ShopRite - Are you sure ShopRite has pulled out?    I could see that the ShopRite in Delran isn't very far, and this Cinnaminson store would be co-owned by Eickhoff, and taking away sales from the Delran store.   If anything if they opened in Cinnaminson, they'd be competing for ACME's business, and ACME could wind up closing, so a net result of another grocery store shell for Cinnaminson.    With ShopRite having acquired the numerous Stop&Shop stores in Southern NJ, the owners seem well penetrated in their Cherry Hill-Mt.Laurel markets now.   And you can't ignore the Wegmans factor, which took a share of business from both ACME and ShopRite.  Eickhoff acquired the Ark Rd Stop&Shop in Mt.Laurel.

I'd think a freestanding JCPenney could be a big draw there.    Not too upscale but not downscale either, just right in the middle.  Cherry Hill Mall is somewhat away and will be too crowded for the typical customer to easily get in and out, and the JCPenney there is showing its age.   Burlington Center Mall is on the other side, but is spaced far enough way.    JCPenney is doing freestanding stores in other parts of the country.

Another thought - why wasn't the plaza designed for a Wal-Mart SuperCenter?   I realize Wal-Mart is in another plaza with Sam's Club, and Wal-Mart might not have wanted to have the two separated, but I'd think they would grab any opportunity to have another SuperCenter in NJ.

I think something similar to the Promenade would be really awesome! How would you go about renting a space to open up a business at The Shoppes at Cinnaminson?

(this paragraph also posted at Phillyburbs.com)

...doesn't deserve that title.  We were very excited about the caliber of stores PROMISED.  Now, we'll have the joy of staring, for years, at low-budget, strip-mall type stores such as Ross "Dress for Less" and Burlington Coat Factory, whose owner touted the fact in a recent BurlCo. Times article that "discount shoppers by the busload" used to arrive at the store's original location (where it should remain).  Just what Cinnaminson needs, busloads of discount shoppers!!  Makes sense, though, since the planned stores appeal to few, if any, residents of this town.  A nice (meaning not KFC-like) restaurant and a BOOKSTORE should have been negotiated instead - no demanded!  What a disgrace!  Shame on all involved in the latest strip mall to hit this town.  Economic development??  HA!  Pretty packaging can't hide the trash that lies within.  Those stores are neither in line demographically with the residents of this town (where median income is approximately $70,000), nor do they reflect the high taxes paid by Cinnaminson residents.  We deserve better, and the powers-that-be know it.

I have not heard of ShopRite pulling out, but I did hear Starbucks will not be opening (I don't blame them if it's true), and is being replaced with a coffee shop called Saxby's.  I'm so extremely disappointed in this shopping center.  As far as Pottery Barn, it certainly would've been a more welcome sight than what's on the way.  For some reason, there is a misperception that Cinnaminson is not as "upscale" as other towns where shopping centers exist like Eastgate Square, the Promenade, and The Marketplace.  I just don't get it.  The demographics here are very similar; it's probably due to past woes on Route 130, thanks to "Motel Row" and the like.  As far as economic redevelopment, well, I know my dollars will continue to be spent elsewhere.  Other towns are getting exactly what the residents asked for and needed; Cinnaminson's getting the exact opposite.  It's downright embarrassing.

I think you people are making a big deal out of nothing....first of all with the U.S. Being in a "Reccession" no business any where in this day and age are going to do to well, and I think you guys should be more worried about the Job opportunities that lie within this shopping center for the people out there that need employment, to be able to go shopping in these stores that are most likely for the low budget person. Rather than ur pottery place or jc penny, and starbucks,I don't know anyone these days that has money to waste in a starbucks coffee shop,so stop ur squawking and be satisfied with what Cinnaminson shopping center has planned for everyone....anything is going to be better, than what's been there for all these years.....NOTHING! Sonic has been added as well. Unfortunately there are no more liquor licenses in Cinnaminson so we won't be getting a Chickie and Pete's or Ruby Tuesdays.

Shop Rite is still there

Shop Rite is opening around January 6-7, 2009. It will have a "beer and wine" liquor store within the larger store, no hard liquor. Sonic is coming. Arby's and Tony's Pizza backed out. There will also be a mini Post Office, Sleepy's, T-Mobile, Hair Cuttery, InkStop, Saxby's, Best Cuts, a nail salon, Ross, Hallmark, America's Best Eye, GO! Wireless, Anna's Linens, Burl. Coat Factory, and Sonic. This website gives more info---http://www.centroprop.com/PropertyProfile_short.asp?ProjectID=PNJCINNS1.

What a shame if Sonic pulled out that would help, they did a bad job with that site Cinnaminson ave is a joke is that the best you could do I live in Delran where are taxes way to high I'd like to move back to Cinnamainson where I grew up the taxes are a couple few thousand cheaper and its still a nice neighborhood they need a good upscale anchor store.

I heard that Sonic did pull out - Cinnaminson is too upscale for a drive-thru (McDonald's is grandfathered in) I heard.  I guess we're not too upscale for a Burlington Coat Factory or a Ross Dress for Less though.  I agree with others, would have like to have seen a Barnes and Noble or some other stores that are in The Promenade.  What a shame, the only store I shop at is the ShopRite.  I still go to the Promenade or, now, the new Cherry Hill stores (where the racetrack was).  What a shame, I was excited when I first heard about this shopping center.  Now, a brand new shopping center less than a 5 min. drive from my house, and I still shop at the Cherry Hill or Mt. Laurel stores.
