I woke up today and saw we lost a really funny man. George was 71 and had a history of heart trouble.

I know alot of people may not have always agreed with his style of humor all the time,( myself include) George to me seemed like a guy that always had to push the boundaries. Especailly back in the day when he performed his 7 words you can't say on TV. Which caused a trial that went all the way to the supreme court.

As well as other funny stuff like.

"Why do they lock gas station bathrooms?" he once mused. "Are they afraid someone will clean them?"

There's tons more. I can't help to think of George and not think of something that made me laugh.

Thanks George, i know you were not the most religious man, but I hope you rest in peace.

Andrew, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of George Carlin.  One of my favorite characters of his was Al, the Hippy Dippy Weatherman ("Tonight, widely scattered darkness, lightening towards morning...")

It is a time to take a break and reflect on the mortality of us all. In his later years I thought he lost his edge and just became more profane. But his work and some of his more memorable challenges are great achievments

I think George was ahead of his times! With what is being said these days it is nothing compared to George. He did get a little carried away and the language was a little racey to say the least, but I have a place near and dear to my heart because of his real estate humor on "Stuff"

Warning: if you know George, you know what you are getting in viewing this You Tube.... otherwise, don't watch it!

Thanks for posting this. It was nice to have a great laugh today and remember someone from my childhood!

He will be missed.....my son recognized his voice this morning while watching CNN because George also did narrations for the Thomas the Train episodes on PBS.

I remember the first time I watch Carlin. It is such a talent to make people laugh and he was certainly one of the best. How about the "Seven words you can't type on a Blog?".

I was sorry to hear of his passing, but did not like a lot of his views at all.

In deed he will be missed, I have quoted him a few times in past blogs in talking about things that aren't mutually exclusive : the logic is the same as Jumbo Shrimp? big or small he was a giant. Steve

He truly was an innovator. Many tried to imitate him but few succeeded. Funny man.

Wow - I didn't watch the news or listen to it this morning. What a shock. He was one incitefully funny guy. Pushed the edge of the envelope, but I enjoyed him.

I just use a reference to his seven words routine in my non-A/R blog post I did last week on words you shouldn't use in a listing.

Good morning Andrew.  I didn't hear he had died.  He was also a star in Bill and Teds!

George Carlin was brilliant.

He made good sense, knew his stuff, and made me laugh. I will miss him.

I was really shocked when I heard that this morning. Saw him a couple of times over the years & let me tell you he was hilarious.  Liked his point of view on Illegal aliens & drilling for oil if you get a chance to hear those, please do.  I know I will his sharp wit.

Andrew, Carlin's routine on "stuff" was a classic. Also liked his "Hippy-Dippy Weatherman" - where he proclaimed "tonight it will be mostly dark."
