Until this past weekend, I’d never entered a blog carnival before. I’ve seen the ‘Carnival of Real Estate’ pop up in my reader when it’s hosted by blogs I subscribe to, but I’ve never really understood what it was/how it works/why I should get overexcited by it.
Not all carnivals are born equal, in some parts of the world a carnival is a colourful, fanciful, musical celebration which is the highlight of the year, in other parts of the world a carnival is where you win a goldfish and don’t leave your children unattended. A blog carnival is a different beast entirely, they exist for all manner of subjects and are basically a weekly round up of the best blog posts in any given sector. Different blogs take turns to ‘host’ the carnival, bloggers submit their best post of the week, the host then reads through all the entries and awards prizes to the most deserving. The Carnival of Real Estate (CoRE) is a great one to follow if you want to see a nice round up of the best real estate related posts every week.
I’d always been too scared and uninitiated to enter a post into the CoRE, but this week I plucked up the courage. And it paid off! I lost my carnival virginity with spectacular style and actually won an award, The Brazilian Feel Good Award to be precise.
I’m overexcited, I’m smug, and I am indefinitely showing off. Go over to Renthusiast to see this weeks carnival in action.
