Bloomfield Hills Stager recommends ...Tang that dishwasher

By
Home Stager with Stage-Show-Sell

So many of the homes that we are staging are vacant.  Maybe they have been sitting there for awile and they don't quite smell fresh.

Open the dishwasher and poke your head in the sink :-)

Smell a little funky??

Try throwing at little Tang TAng

or run some Country Time Lemonade in the dishwasher countryt ime Lemonaide

This can't be the sugar free stuff.  The sugar is needed for the cleaning process.   The citric acid in both drinks will clean out the dishwasher and the drains in the sink.  Depending on the set up of the garbage disposal that will be cleaned out too.

Sometimes running a lemon thru the garbage disposal will make that odor away.

Remember, If We can smell it   We can't sell it

Alsa, a use for Tang.  Just think what might happen if you acutally drink the stuff!

Virginia, interesting tips, never heard of those before.

I like the slogan: if We can smell it   We can't sell it

Have a great week!

I used to be in the water treatment business and we used Tang crystals, not the mixed drink to remove iron stains in dishwashers. Non toxic, environmentally friendly.

Virginia that's great and very easy.  I will pass this on to the other agents in my office as well as my seller clients. Thanks for the tip

Great tip!  However, in my area, dishwasher detergent is less expensive than tang - it doesn't smell as nice though.  Thanks for sharing!

Looks like it's another item we should have in our 'bag of tricks' for house staging.

The citric acid cuts the grease build up and clean out the traps.  Make sure you use the cystals and a generous about.   My container has lasted so long that the crystals are hard.  I have to break it up with a knife.    I've seen small containers at the Dollar Tree.

May you all have Sweet Smelling drains :-)

Who knew?  Great tip!  I've done the citrus-in-the-disposal thing, but never worried about my dishwasher before, since I run it regularly (my kids don't get that you can use a glass more than once).  Maybe I should stick my head in there and find out if it stinks!

I did not know this tip, I will have to try it out myself, even if it does not smell, it could freshen things up.
