If Google ruled the world...

Search engines are lovely aren’t they? They’ve pretty much made everything a hell of a lot easier and for that we thank them. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a Google Whore, everything they do, I love. Be it Gmail, Google Docs, Google Trends, Google Suggest or even plain old regular Google. But what if Google ran the world? Well, they kinda do online. The word Google has in essence become a verb, “Mum, when’s Dad coming back to live with us?”…”Err Google it darling.”

There’s a photoshop contest going on at another one of my favourite sites at the moment, where the theme for entries is ‘what happens when Google buys EVERYTHING?’ Note they don’t say if.

It’s 5pm, so don’t feel guilty flicking through the splendidly created entries. They’re truly brilliant. Have a peek yourself here.

Poppy - I saw some of the entries, which were masterfully done.  Thanks for sharing this!

Google is a modern day phenomena.  Where will they be 10 years from now?  Instead of Great Britain, will it be Great Google?

Hi Poppy,

Some of those pictures are neat and a little frightening and possibly very nearly true.

As for the post box and gmail. Are they suggesting that our mail may be open my people before we get it and that it may be delivered years after it was sent.

Jason - The skill of the people that enter things to worth1000 always amazes me!

Charles - Very Google!

Tom - You're welcome :)

Kevin - I'd carry a Great Google passport with pride, they'd do a better job running our small island than Brown & Co!

Alan - LOVE your comment! You're quite right, I would quickly surrender by gmail address if they used the Royal Mail as inspiration. My last package that went missing was a pair of prescription glasses, what a stupid thing for someone to steal...would be no good to anyone! You must miss all these British 'quirks' in Carolina!
