I have owned this beautiful old home in the historic distric of Caldwell, ID since 2008. It has been my one and only attempt at a flip. Since the closing date was Jan. 31, 2008 you can see why it didn't flip. In May 2008 I converted it to a rental and it has been a rental ever since.
In the last couple of years the Treasure Valley has seen huge market appreciation. When my tenant left unexpectadly in October I decided it was probably time to sell this georgeous old lady. The house is very large. It has gracious rooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 baths on a quarter acre lot. Beautiful wood floors and tons and tons of character.
The first order of business was getting some tree work done. At this time we had two houses to prep. We concentrated on the other one first. We started painting. We got the covered porch painted and some inside work done when Covid struck us. We down until the end of November. Talk about quick work. As we got better we slowly went back to work on the two homes. We did a lot of painting in both homes and near Christmas the other home was ready for repairs. We listed and sold.
Bill and I went back to work on 1408 Dearborn. I had a artist friend help me with colors. I had some carpets installed in bedrooms (where the carpets were trashed). We started painting and fixing again. I personally stripped paint off some beautiful ceder paneling and Bill varnished it. We had an incredible streak of warmish weather for Winter so we have almost all the outside painting done. We rebuild the deck. A couple of weeks ago the painter started in earnest. It is so much fun to see the project taking shape.
I still need to replace the kitchen and a bathroom floor, Get a little soffit and work done. Today I meet with the stager. I am getting close to finishing.
This old lady needs an owner who can give it the love she deserves.
