Decisions.  Decisions. . .

It’s understandable, at least to me, that people are thinking about decision-making a lot these days.

However, let’s face it, decisions are something that face us each day - and many moments within that day.   Some of those decisions are of greater significance while others can be thought of as made subconsciously.  For some, it may seem like an unconscious action.  I digress(yes, that happens even when I snooze or drift off for a moment).

Whether it be rare or more commonplace, decisions remain a known part and a constant in life.   Turning right. Or left.  This or that.  It doesn’t need to be thoughts of a global concern to send me off on a search of quotes.

As I take that journey, I go rabbit hole searching as I seek additional knowledge/insight of the author of the quote.  I admit context isn't considered. After all, this is a blog post and not a thesis. So today’s quotes are from another varied group.

Some may say one of these chosen quotes is from one who has been considered a hyphenate of consequence.  Others include a sports journalist, a United States Senator, a young chess champion and a drag queen.

Yes, and the quotes were chosen somewhat randomly on this Presidents' Day weekend.  Because I am thinking about decisions.  Previously made, in process and yet-to-come.  Each matters.

We need to accept

that we won’t make the right decisions

that we’ll screw up royally sometimes -

understanding that failure

is not the opposite of success,

it’s part of success.

Arianna Huffington

Decisions are the frequent fabric in our daily design

Don Yaegar

Everyone has to run his own race

and make their own decisions.

Brian Schatz

Critical thinking

is the most important factor with chess.

As it is in life,

you need to think before

you make decisions.

Hikaru Nakamura

History isn’t something

you look back and say it was inevitable,

it happens because people make decisions

that are sometimes very impulsive

and of the moment,

but

those moments are cumulative realities.

Marsha P. Johnson

I apologize for the formatting issue with this post. That decision to move forward was made by me. I may not like the result but accept it and have made the decision to move on to the next project. The image in this post is from canstockphoto.com.

Good morning Michael Jacobs, each day, we make decisions. Some are significant, some, not so much. If the decisions we make are not the right ones, hopefully, we find out quickly and change course. Have a wonderful day!

Myrl Jeffcoat - there are times when I wonder about my "basic" education and wonder "what if?".  Is critical thinking taught as a course or is it learned through multiple processes.  Again, I wonder. . .

And thank you for the spotlight within the OFC group.

James Dray - a new day continues the cycle yet in a different and sometimes not-so-different way.

Kevin J. May - thank you, that's nice of you to say and I appreciate the visit.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - sometimes we know immediately and at others, it is a delayed reaction.  Almost, an awakening.  Of sorts.

Brian England - rabbit-hole adventures require a break.  Of course, they may or may not be "scheduled".

Beth Atalay - I hope your day is wonderful as well.  Despite what is happening in the world of weather in our country today, we are quite fortunate to be able to say we are each experiencing temps/climate that seems "just right".  And that's another thing to be grateful.

You are absolutely right Michael Jacobs, we have so much to be grateful for.

Michael, we make decisions daily, and sometimes all-day long.  Some more significant than others, and some have ramifications, especially in our business.

One of my good decisions this week was to make a Wednesday morning appointment for our first COVID-19 vaccinations.

Joan Cox - the impact of our decision-making is something we feel each and every day.

Roy Kelley - I wonder about decisions often.  Not so much in whether one is good or bad but how a decision comes to "be".  That process can be quite insightful.

That quote sent me down the rabbit hole of pondering my early years. I was being told what I "should" do but I had other ideas. I took my own path and live by those decisions.  Who knows what my fate would have been had I gone down the other path.  I won't go there. It might make a good fictional novel, though.

Hi Michael Jacobs - we all make decisions but each of us do it differently.  Some make the quick decision good or bad and live with it.  Others must carefully consider all points and then come to a decision.  There are others who really have paralysis of analysis and seem to not make a decision until it is forced on them.

Ed Silva - there are times when that "happens" with me.  I'd like to improve that number.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - it is interesting to see how people react.  And the reasons.

Steffy Hristova - I can see why that quote resonates with you and others.

Grant Schneider - analysis paralysis as well as knee-jerk decision-making are just two of the many conditions people experience.

Michael, so glad you talked about critical thinking.  Such an important topic not referring to negativity.  It's the ability to think independently, and analyze a situation, as opposed to blind acceptance of another's opinion.  A trait especially needed in today's world.

Michael, have been showing a couple of buyers the last few days, and they are struggling with these decisions.  Both have homes they "like", but think they are ready for something new.  Today I found one home one couple LOVES, now for the hard decision.....
