Effective Direct Mail

By
Mortgage and Lending

Direct mail can be a cost-effective way to reach current and potential customers. In fact, studies show that every $1 spent yields an average of $10 in sales! If your message is clear and concise, it could yield many profitable relationships.

Provide Key Benefits. Your customers want to know how they will benefit from what you are offering. Pointing out features of a home, such as radiant floor heating, is great information, but emphasizing the benefit----cost-effective heating solution-is what will really grab their attention.

Pique their interest. The primary objective of your direct mail piece is to generate calls. Provide just enough information to pique their interest so they contact you. Use a "P.S". as well to reinforce your message. It acts as an insurance policy in case the recipient skims to the bottom portion of the mailer. Also, add color and highlight copy where needed to accentuate key words, sentences or sections.

Make it personal. Given the ease of obtaining mailing lists, there is no reason to send out generic letters. Always include the name of the occupant in the mail---simply addressing it to "Current-Resident", will most likely cause it to be thrown away. When you make your message personal, you make it more direct. That is why it is called direct mail!
