WOW, what a great take on the way I grew up and was taught that my neighbor was special to me. We had a flood in Denver when I was 15 that took out a lot of the homes, businesses, and bridges along the Platte River. I spent that summer working to clean upt the mess left behind and now that you write this, I realized I didn't get paid for it. It was just what we did. I guess that is why I hate the government being involved in anything a community should handle on its own as much as possible.
Great post but you better watch out if that water flows the way it normally does or there will be more victims along the Mississippi again. Maybe the government will blow up a couple more levees again to get rid of those unwanted characters down stream.
Great post Lazarus!! What a great way to put things in perspective. I learned the value of a neighbor in Montana. When disaster strikes, you pull together and help each other out!
