Stop whining and start working!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Four Seasons Realty

I have listened to so many agents over the last six months whine about how bad business is. It might help if they stopped whining and put their time and energy into finding out what is working for other agents around the nation. Yes, my sales are about 10% below what they were last year but I am still doing well.

I think the real estate school instructors should make sure that their attendees understand that "real estate is hard work"! It can be fun and very rewarding but it has to be run as a business and not a part time "fun thing to do". It is also NOT  a "get rich quick" profession! But, if you treat people fairly and run an honest business then you will be successful! Hope you all are having a fun and profitable year

True, there is no need to whine about the situation when we are all independent contractors responsible for our own results. Be accountable and stop making excuses.

Well said!  From the outside looking in Real Estate looks pretty easy, drive nice cars, wear nice clothes and cash big checks...nothing to it.

The good ones make look effortless, but the high turnover rate tells a different story.

Hazy,  Very straight forward post.  The problem is that  a lot of people don't know what to do to get business.

All very good points, It goes back to hard work pays off in the end. I'm still working leads that I know will pay off down the line and many new agents I know dont want to make the calls. I just hope we are right.

hazy, if it were easy, anyone could do it. There are a large number of succesfull professionals here on active rain. I challenge you to find one who did it the easy way. The road is littered with those who chose the easy way.Thats why the reward is so great for those willing to pay the price. You have already made the most difficult decision. Quit whining, and go to work. Great post, and best wishes.

I posted a very similiar blog not long ago. I can't believe the agents that seem to ALWAYS be on Active Rain and they complain non-stop about no business. It's hilarious because everyone else knows why they are failing in real estate but them.

Just because you LOVE real estate, maybe real estate doesn't love you.

Nothing "hazy" about your post, Hazy -- we're loving this market and having a great time, and everyone who can adjust, change, and re-work their career a bit can have succecss.

Very good point!  There is no benefit in complaining or getting down about your market.    Make the best of it and get out there and make something happen!  I tell people that all the time.

Great responses. We are all accountable for our income and ouor actions. Our actions will usually determine our income. My definition of insanity is: to keep doing the same thing but expect a diffferent outcome.

Lets make changes to our attitudes and find out what works best to improve our business. I believe that if you truly want to help people and run your business with integrity that the income will automatically follow.
