Three Don'ts for ActiveRain Success
When writing a blog post, much time is invested by an author to put together an extensive market report, a meaningful opinion piece or detailed Localism article to attract an audience.
Practicing social etiquette while being mindful plays a large role in preventing conflicts between ActiveRain members. This sweet & short list is very easy to follow as 1, 2, & 3:
...dump antagonistic remarks on a blog post. Feeling overly snarky or unreasonably argumentative and tempted to verbally purge on another member's page? Please refrain at all costs from doing that on this platform. There are a number of eyes that land on a blog post, including the consumer and stinking it up with contrived derisiveness will not be accepted kindly by anyone, including myself. Instead, write your own counter-posts that may appeal to like-minded people who will enjoy that type of writing style.
...advertise & market yourself on a member's page. Am thankful for every single industry professional that stops by and leaves a comment. Fly-byer commenting bothers me less than those who leave a signature with their full name, along with all designations, brokerage name, office and cell phone numbers, web site and email address and a catchy tag line. Avoid that, please. Everyone here knows who you are and my page is not meant to further your online exposure!
...copy someone's work to use as your own. Snapping photos, subscribing to services that provide art or designing graphics for 11+ years now, fulfills my writing needs as an avid blogger here at ActiveRain. There have been well-known instances when a member or peer takes a photo or post and places into their web site or blog page for their own purposes. That is considered unethical, in some cases unlawful, is pursuable and complimenting does not equate to stealing.
Common courtesy, a respectful stance and following site rules goes a long way toward building and maintaining long lasting professional relationships here in the Rain.
