When talking to a potential seller on a listing appointment, one of the things we talk about is the stress of moving. Yes, there is always stress. Ask anyone who has ever moved from one place to another.
Are you 100% sure you want to move? I ask this question in the beginning upfront!
Some respond with, why are you here, if not to list my house?.
And I share the fact that I Am Never Moving! Do you want to know why?
Because I am never going to put myself through the stress, you are about to go through. It breaks the ice and explains how serious this decision is.
When talking with newer agents, they are always surprised that I say this to someone thinking of selling their home.
Real estate transactions are not always smooth.
There are bumps and turbulence along the way.
And I remind them of the stress of moving.
I also compliment them when these stressful situations arise and how well they are handling the situation. Or I remind them that the anticipated stress is here!
