that looks good. Did you do that?
I really like this idea. I find myself using metal wall art, too:
Hi Patrick, yes I did that room. It was the homeowner's favourite room in the house when I was done.It turned out really well. This is what I am talking about in my other blog about photography. You can be the best Stager out there but without professional photographs of at least a couple of your houses it is pretty hard to brand yourself.
Hi Elaine, I have never thought of using metal work above a bed. I have seen these pieces and always wondered where I would use one. Over the fireplace is the only spot I have come up with. I really like the dark over the bed. It grounds it well.
The pictures over my bed are from Bouclair. I think that is a Canadian company only.
The photos and the iron work are excellent ideas. Think you are right in that many people do not have headboards any more.
Does anybody have any ideas on why people don't have headboards anymore? I really want to know.
I made my own and attached it firmly to the wall. You cut a 2 x 4 on the diagonal length wise. Attach one piece to the wall and the other piece to your headboard. My headboard was made out of thin wood, covered in foam and micro fibre. I actually made one for my daughter's room as well. Too much work for me to do it on an ongoing basis though.
Why don't I have a headboard. I bought the best mattress and support I could afford at the time and there was no money left for a headboard. That was 10 years ago. Could that be everyone's reason?
Beautiful work! I have used everything from placemats to art work to photo frames.
Hi Kristina, Placemats you say???? I will have to look into that. If you have pictures please post them here.
Michelle, I really like the color palette in that room.. The bedding and artwork certainly finished that room.. There have been a couple recent blogs on headboards. ONe of my favorites is Dane Caldwell's post about covering insulation board with fabric.. http://activerain.com/blogsview/555447/Foam-Board-and-Fabric Sorry for the html, I could not get my link to work..
Hi Cheryl, I will definitely check out that site. Thank you for the comments on the colour pallete. I typically add some really bold colour like orange in a room but this one cried out for a much more calm approach. The typical response according to the Realtor is "Oh my, isn't this lovely, I don't want to leave this room."
There is a see through fireplace at the end of this room that looks through to the bathroom. I have posted photographs of the bathroom in another blog. It really markets the lifestyle of the home.
Michelle, beautiful room! I can certainly see why the comments are about not wanting to leave.
The photo IS beautiful!
I never had a headboard because I just never invested in anything in my bedroom. I have one now that I made but it is extremely heavy so it sits on the floor behind the bed rather than being hung to show off the height! So I sorta have half a headboard!
Hi Dane,
Thank you for the comments on the photo. I have often wanted to give you a call to meet up. I just love the name of your company and figured you would be an interesting person to know.
Wow! Great idea and pics. Thanks for the post.
Hi Michelle...Do you sometimes go with 2-3 pictures (depending on size and shape) over a king? That eliminates the thought of four in the bed. Of course, we don't want to encourage 3 either.
We have just one over our king but I is fairly large and maybe it doesn't look very good come to think of it. Oh well!
Kathleen
Hi Kathleen, sometimes I use one large picture but it has to be 2/3 of the width of the bed or I don't use it. That's why multiple pictures works so well. You space them one hand apart and use as many pictures as it takes.
I also use just two quite often. If the homeowner has two small ceramic wall pieces I will sometimes mount them between the two pictures.
Beautiful, rich and elegant. Lovely! Thank you for sharing this pic.
I am going to have to check into the placemat thing...interesting?
