Auburn was founded in 1892. This friendly town is located in Barrow County, Georgia and Gwinnett County, Georgia. This small city lies between Lawrenceville and Winder within the Metropolitan Atlanta Ga area. Major Highways are Highway 316 and 324. The City is 5.3 square miles and is all land. The census of 2000 showed that there were 6904 people, 2260 households, and 1846 families. The median income for a household in Auburn, Ga was $51,346. The median income for a family was $52,695. The town was named after a Yorkshire town in Oliver Goldsmith' poem "Deserted Village"
