A Rare Horned Owl Sighting Friday Photo

While on vacation a few summers past, and walking through the Sonoran Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, we wwere fortunate to get a glimpse of a great horned owl perched high up in a tree.

Some of the rest of the scenery was equally as breathtaking.

All in all some great views and for me a chance to sneak a post past that angry mutt.

Ed,

How great that you shared your photos with us.  And the cactus shots are also great!  I think the dog does not like posts with emojis and clip art.  A

What beautiful photos, Ed. And I'm delighted to be able to click through to your post today... all I get is that stupid dog on most of the ones I've been trying to read these past three days.

Hello Ed -  that owl sighting brings to mind:  caught in camouflauge.  I think the landscape of the desert offers many surprises.

Good morning Ed. Great pictures indeed.  Don't suppose that owl can take away a certain dog in the Rain, could he?

Hi Ed,

One of my favorite places is the Desert Botanical Gardens.  I have a picture of those cacti.  You have to have a person in the image to get a better context of how tall they are!Desert Botanical Gardens

Ed, that owl sure blends in with the tree, and I may not have seen it.  Good job in capturing the photo!

At a software company that I worked several years, we had a tree where a gigantic horned owl perched for awhile.  A wildlife team came to check on him, and when they brought him to the ground, I found that as big as he was, he didn't weigh very much.  Turns out, much of their size and girth is fluff from feathers.  To this day, I never describe myself as fat - only fluffy!
