Online House Hunting is Much Like Internet Dating…
People never truly know what they’ll get until finally showing up in person! There’s plenty of reasons to avoid using a smartphone when searching online and instead, meeting the old fashioned way.
Here are some things to think about:
Manipulated photos create unrealistic expectations. What is perused online might be nowhere close to the real thing and can end up being very undesirable and complete waste of time for all. Putting lipstick on a pig may enhance an appearance temporarily but it remains a pig (No offense to porkers).
The history has been grossly misrepresented. People tend to downplay negative past experiences to avoid scrutiny, often doing the same when reporting property issues. Full disclosure, everything in writing and a thorough home inspection is highly suggested before signing closing documents.
Unlimited choices can hinder a commitment. Similar to the idiom, “Be like a kid in a candy store…”, a decision may be hard to come by when too much of a good thing comes into play. It encourages anxiety, buyer paralysis and can be detrimental to accomplishing intended goals.
Making a quick online decision can lead to major disappointment. At the end of the day, this isn’t meant to disparage looking online but in-person is best when purchasing a home.
Happy shopping all!
