Is it ever OK to bring a DOG to a Home showing?

How do you turn an afternoon of home showings into a mess? The answer in this case was rather simple. Hire a friend who is new to the Real Estate business to sell your home. Think that the home will sell itself. Lastly, do not ask any questions.

The result was under pricing a home then allowing anyone who wants to see it, just come between noon and 4pm on a Saturday.

The Home Owner had completely broken down by this point asking for help. What about the dogs you ask? Well, not just one home looker decided to bring their dog to see the home. There was two. The first person actually brought their dog into the home. The second let their dog loose in the back yard where it promptly left a gift that went un picked up before jumping through the screen door to get into the home. The dog inside chewed on one of their toddlers toys before commencing fighting with dog 1.

Back in the house, the sellers unknown to what was going on got a call from a neighbor. In the end what type of mayhem went on here? Basically a free for all with no supervision. It does matter who you list with and this is one of the prime and worst examples why.

IN SUMMARY the house did not sell. The seller has a mess and the agent did not really understand what listing a house meant. The seller asked for a full release from the listing and they await a signature.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY is that in the end, the most important thing in Real Estate is a mix of knowledge, experience and great service. For me, it is to provide GREAT SERVICE. I want to stand out from the crowd. My philosophy is simple. To provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the selling and buying process.

All agents are not created equal and every consumer should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest agent. Let me show you there is a difference. Please Support locally owned and operated business.

Good moring, Scott... really makes one wonder what people are thinking. Maybe that's the answer... they are not thinking.

Hello Scott - I love when I hear "that home could sell itself".  Real estate selling is not a one trick pony.  Nor a barrel of monkeys.  Should I continue with other "pet" peeves about misconceptions in the industry???

Scott, just when we think we have seen and heard it all ... there is this. The absolute lack of respect amazes me.

Home is where the hearth is.

I understand that for some people, their fur babies are family.  Some people insist on bringing their pets along to make sure the house suits their dogs, too.

It is never okay to bring a dog without having first asked for permission from the listing agent (who, of course, should check with the seller).  If the answer is "no", you need to respect that.

Full stop.

What a mess for that poor home owner.  Support dogs can be questionable but still permission is needed.

Scott, friend or no friend I would have fired that Agent on the spot, and made him/her pay for the damage.

Hi Scott- No, it is not ok to bring your dog to a showing, unless you ask permission of the homeowner.

I had new buyers show up at a listing once with their dog and they planned to bring him in. Um, no. They wound up taking turns looking at the home.

The open house you mentioned sounded like a mess. I bet the next agent will do a much better job!
