Hello Everyone,
I have to address this topic because it is something that can cause many problems in a Real Estate relationship and it can be avoided if addressed up front. I'm talking about how hard your Real Estate agent works. How many times have people hired an agent and then never sees them again after the sign goes up?
There is a rule I try and live by, and that is that I like to be the one calling my clients. If you never talk to your clients unless they call you, this may be a sign your communication is in trouble. If you hire and agent and the only time that you talk to them is when you call them, then how do you know if they are working on selling your home or not. The answer is you don't.
We build into our systems regular updates and communication with our clients. The fact is that sometime if you don't hear from them they may very well be working hard at selling your home, but shae on them for not keeping you informed. But many times they may not be doing anything beyond what you see.
The way to avoid this is be up front when hiring the agent and interviewing them about what systems they have in place to make sure you know what is going on. Get clear on expectations before you hire them about how often you like updates and how (email, phone, mail). We have an expectations form and 2 pages in our binder that cover communication. You need this established before you get started. Consider it buckling your seat belt before starting driving your car. If you don't do this, when things go wrong it will only make it worse.

I like to have a set time to call my sellers and go over progress and the health of their listing every week. Of course my clients may call me anytime they have questions or concerns. But, having a weekly call ensures we get together at least once a week.
