In my original post on this subject, I wrote how writing about community news events can increase traffic to your site.

Here's my follow up to that post:

I'm still getting a lot of hits on my personal blog by people looking for Saddleback Church's Refinery building. Today I went to Google and typed in the keywords 99% of the searchers are using, "Saddleback Church Refinery". It turns out that my personal blog is the fourth major entry on the results.

This goes to support the suspicion I had that blogging about news and local events can for sure boost your ranking on the search engines. Hopefully some of these folks will link over to my web page or Active Rain blog and start sending me business.

2 Comments on Follow Up: Getting Picked Up By Search Engines

Hi, Dennis

Your website is one of the best one-page sites I've seen.  Good work.

The search engines will send more traffic your way if you put more keywords on your website.  Most people don't know what an acknowledgement or a jurat is.  Instead, list all the docs typically needing notarization.  Power of Attorney is good - take off the adjective.  Add Deed, Will, Child permission to travel, Title transfers for cars, RVs, homes, vehicles, houses, condominimums.  Etc etc etc.  People sometimes will use the name of the doc they want notarized in their search.

Be careful about putting too much importance on traffic alone.  Traffic can be high and you still won't get much work.  I know one notary who gets hundreds of visitors each week but he gets very little notary work.  That is because he has lots of stuff on his site that people like to read about.

I don't get much traffic but almost every single visitor winds up making an appointment.  My content is completely geared to people wanting notary services.  My site isn't pretty but it is crammed with keywords and information that non-legal people have a hard time finding, like links to free blank legal forms for Wills, Powers of Attorney, etc.

Good luck,  LauraV
