New Home Sales February 2021

On March 23, 2020, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Census Bureau reported nationwide new single family home sales declined 18.2% to an annual rate of 775,000 homes in February of 2021 from 948,000 homes in January of 2021, but jumped 8.2% from in February of 2020 an annual rate of 716,000 homes.

The median new home sold value was $349,400, while the average sales price was $416,000 in February of 2021. There were estimated 312,000 new houses for sale, and 4.8 months supplies of available inventory at the end of February of 2021.

That 18% decline had everything to do with inventory issues. Hopefully as more people get vaccinated that will make people feel better about listing their home.
