Makeover2Takeover Contest Update

If you've just crawled out from underneath a rock, or spent the last 6 weeks living in a cave, then you probably aren't aware of the current ActiveRain Event of the Year - the Makeover2Takeover Team Competition!

Here's a quick refresher course if you haven't been following our Weekly Challenges:

Whether your Real Estate career has just begun, or is in dire needed a complete overhaul, here's your chance!

Think "Top Chef," less the cooking.

Or "Extreme Home Make-Over," but without Ty and his annoying megaphone.
The Biggest Loser, only you're a Winner!

From the same folks that brought you 'Project Blogger" comes the latest reality 'realty' event....

The Contest is simple: We selected 16 'Makeover' Teams, each comprised of one (1) seasoned real estate veteran (Mentor), and their chosen apprentice. Over the course of this 8 week adventure (leading up to the 2008 SF Inman Connect), the Mentor/Apprentices (M2T Teams) are facing a series of weekly challenges, aimed specifically at developing the apprentice's image/abilities as a top performing real estate agent.

The mentors and apprentices are chronicling their experiences on the official 'MakeoverToTakeover' blog.

Competition Began: Friday, May 16th

Competition Ends: The 3rd week of July. The Winning Team will be announced at Inman's SF Blogger's Connect 2008

Weekly Challenges: Each week the Teams have been facing difficult elimination challenges designed to develop and hone the Apprentice's professional skills, and to test the Mentor's ability to teach/guide the Apprentice.

ActiveRain Members can view the Weekly Challenge Results on the official 'Makerover2Takeover' blog.

Scoring: The last three teams standing will be invited to join us at Inman Connect in San Francisco where the winning team will be announced. In addition to the final challenge, the overall body of work will also be evaluated to determine the winning team.

Judging Criteria: Each week, when that weeks challenge is announced, judging criteria will be spelled out. Our panel of distinguished Judges will score each Team based on that criteria.

Prizes: Points and prizes are awarded to the first place team for each Weekly challenge. The grand prize will be a Web2.0 Marketing package worth many 1000's of dollars. You can look forward to prizes from the who's who of online real estate.

At the end of 5 weeks of competitive elimination challenges, only 8 Teams remain:

Join us in watching! Trust me , you will learn A LOT from Newbie to Seasoned agent! Rich has done an amazing job coming up with our topics - keeping us on our feet with new assignments! (This week even our Mentors have work to do!!! )

I look forward to watching and reading about this competition. Some very good teams in the mix.

Emily and I really miss not being involved, but are so having fun watching the rest of you! You're doing great!

There has not been one boring moment in this competion. I learn something every single week. I cannot believe that we are in week six already. It has been a great experience!!

This competition has been so amazing! I now have 5 tools that help me "show up better" than the next agent. We all do! Each week brought about a new challenge, and they keep getting better!

My favorite project was the "First time home buyer". I am most proud, however, of my digital "on line listing presentation". It was by far the most frustrating for me, technically, but I loved the end result. It will definitely help me in my business.

Looking forward to this weeks challenge. Is it already week SIX? My how time flies when they keep us hopping, lol! Loving it and so appreciative for the opportunity.

The tension mounts as we enter Week 6 with only half the teams remaining. Desiree and I are excited to be a part of the competition and I've seen significant improvement in business during the duration of the contest thus far? Coincidence? I don't think so... Dez has already asked for me to mail her a check :)

Congratulations to all the teams left standing! Seems like it just started and now it's nearly over. Wow!

We're all learning so much in the process and I still think this was a brilliant idea AR gods - would love to see more of this type of activity - it's definitely got me checking in more often - lol - of course with these great teams who wouldn't be engaged!!

I am so amazed to still be in week 6. Kim is an amazing person to mentor. She is so teachable and that makes for a great relationship.

She has already got to send her pre-list package out to two new potential listings. She is also getting her buyers under control, instead of showing homes for 3 months, she now knows the right questions to ask, to see of they are buyers or shoppers.

I have had several email from AR folks who are following and learning and win or lose that it what it is all about.

Congrats to all of the teams still standing! We are enjoying watching you all work so hard (while we sit back and sip margaritas!).

Thanks for yout tasking the time to provide us with this information in the Active Rain network. AR is the new "cyber backbone" of the industry, and with it's uplink to Localism.com it will transfrom the marketplace. Agents who don't see which way the cyberwind is blowing are going to find themselves at a considerable disadvantage inside of three to five years.

Not sure how someone could not be following this it's one of my favorite things ever. It incorporates the web and reality tv I love it.

Thank you for sharing on exactly how it works. I wish you all the very best. Sounds like a fun and challenging adventure.

I am trying to keep with as much info on AR as possible. I had read a little here and there, but it is good to see more info on this challenge. May the best team win!

You Guys are right...I have been living under a rock, not sure how I missed this Challenge, maybe read the AR posts?

It's a great idea, you already know that. Lets follow through with a program after to get AR member at the Top in their area!
