Pending Home Sales February 2021

On March 31, 2020, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide pending contract signed home sales fell 10.6% to an index of 110.3 in February of 2021 from January of 2021, and down 0.5% from February of 2020.

Pending home sales index in the Northeast declined 9.2% to an index of 92.3 in February of 2021 from January of 2021, and lost 3.9% from February of 2020.

Pending home sales index in the Midwest dropped 9.5% to an index of 102.4 in February of 2021 from January of 2021, and decreased 6.1% from February of 2020.

Pending home sales index in the South lower 13.0% to an index of 133.2 in February of 2021 from January of 2021, and but higher 2.9% from February of 2020.

Pending home sales index in the West down 7.4% to an index of 96.9 in February of 2021 from January of 2021, but gained 1.9% from February of 2020, according to NAR on March 31,

Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, stated  "If there were a larger pool of inventory to select from – ideally a five- or a six-month supply – then more buyers would be able to purchase properties at an affordable price."
