It is interesting to me, and I have to ask why would the government be asking us to spend the rebate checks to stimulate he economy, when we know that the better  choice would be to pay down debt, Invest rather than spend, and what about savings rtaher then spending.

Financial intelligence is your responsibility not the governments, I think its obvious by what they are asking you to do with your rebate check.

Dont spend, Invest, Save, Paydown debt, so many better choices for you to make.

Great comment. I agree. This was a ridiculous idea-a waste of time and money in my opinion. The sad fact is that the people who really needed the money to pay down debt probably also have holes in their pockets and will be irresposible, go out and buy a Plasma TV or something they do not need and truly can't afford. Perception is reality.

I agree Brett, I refuse to give the government any more money than I have to now.  They spend it wrecklessly.

Absolutely good points, The Govt will lose credibility when they say spend today, and then later say, save for your retirement. How about. Be responsible with your finances, but when we need more money, we'll just print more.

Im getting mixed messages (lol)  We needto take responsibility for our own financial intelligent.

Brett,  Makes sense to me.  I haven't got my check yet either.  I guess it is in the mail.

Brett

I believe we as individuals can determine how to spend our money.  If people want to spend their money and hope that it will lead to economic stimulation that will benefit them later than more power to them.  Paying down personal debt seems to me to be the only way to start to build financial freedom.

by the way, Do you have an outside blog that I can add to my Blogroll ?

Thanks and look forward to reading your thoughts on the world of real estate.
