Schaumburg's got parks, sports & FUN!

Schaumburg maintains more than 1,100 acres across 100 parks, including nearly 300 acres of preserved natural areas throughout it's park district.

The Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary, is a prairie wild life preserve and an indoor and outdoor museum. This is the place to rent snow shoes & take them for a spin if you've never tried them. Bison Bluff is a nature playground also located on the grounds.

Also nearby is the Heritage Farm which is a fully operational farm right out of the 1880's. Kids are gonna love it! Horses, pigs, chickens are here for interaction.

(video from WGN-9).  The Park District also operates four community recreation centers, including the Water Works Oasis, a spectacular indoor pool facility.  The Sport Center which has indoor baseball, soccer fields and basketball courts is truly phenomenal.  Golf courses, racquetball courts, summer boat rentals, and three outdoor swimming pools also are under the district's jurisdiction.

Into cycling? We're known for our Bike Paths & Routes - Schaumburg is known for it's extensive system of 85 miles of bike paths, many extending through parks and connecting public and historic locations. Many of the paths are also connected to bike paths in adjacent towns & forest preserves.  Bike Map

Not only you need exercise! How about taking the dog to the Dog Park? Bring your dogs to get off leash exercise, play and socialize with other dogs. There is a sandy beach surrounding the pond & a boat dock that the dogs will love to jump off. A gazebo where you can have lunch & take a rest. An annual pooch permit allows you and your canine companion to enjoy this great facility.

Town Square is located within the Olde Schaumburg Centre Historic District serving as the village's official "downtown". Town Square is also home to the second largest public library in Illinois: The Schaumburg Township District Library. The library, along with the Trickster Art Gallery and Farmers Market, are regional destinations for cultural programs and resources, which amounts to over 1 million visitors per year.

I'm exhausted over all the great things that you can do in Schaumburg & I didn't even mention all the shopping! And all the eating!

Thinking now of moving to Schaumburg? I be happy to help you & tell you all the in's and out's.

Hello Lyn - beyond its general location and some other random information, I didn't realize Schaumburg Illinois had such a large number of parks.

Hi Lyn:

Schaumburg certainly has an impressive array and volume of parks. What a great overview for those who might not even be aware, or who may be considering a move there (and of course get in touch with you!).

Lyn Sims - Oh, how I wish this place existed (or if it did, I knew about it) when my kids were young when I lived in Lake County. They did an excellent job on utilizing the Praire theme to get back to the roots of the community. I hope many people come to enjoy and learn to appreciate nature.
