City of Gaithersburg Environmental Award Winner: Karen Lottes

 

Meet 2021 Environmental Award Winner Karen Lottes, Program Coordinator with the Gaithersburg Community Museum. Karen was nominated by residents who were impressed by her innovation & support of the virtual Green Cocktails program https://gburg.md/GreenCocktails
 
In this monthly series, Karen identifies a local expert to break down an aspect of sustainability, pairing it with a cocktail recommendation from a local distillery, turning this sometimes daunting subject into something fun and interesting. Talking about sustainability regularly is a key component of making real change. Congratulations Karen!

Gaithersburg Community Museum

The museum's Program Coordinator was honored to be given an award for creating the Green Cocktails series. It couldn't have happened, however, without the help of our friends and partners including the City's Environmental Team, One Montgomery Green, Gaithersburg Green Drinks, NISE Network, and the local distilleries who participated. Sustainability is all about it taking a village and it certainly did for Green Cocktails.

Green Month/Arbor Day/Environmental Awards
In celebration of Green Month and Arbor Day, residents are encouraged to plant trees, protect the natural environment and make our homes and the City greener. This month we also recognize individuals and organizations demonstrating outstanding stewardship in the Gaithersburg community with Environmental Awards.
