Serendipity Sunday: Lady Bugs Wanted!

Lately I have been battling with aphids who keep landing on my roses and even on my lemon trees. I have only spotted one ladybug, and I think I need some bigger ones (like the ones pictured above) to scare off those aphids.

The nursery advised a safe product that does not harm birds, bees, ladybugs,butterflies or cats. The morning dew has been very heavy lately. It washes the spray away...and then those little green aphid monsters are back...

In Los Angeles, I used to buy 2 boxes. I woud open them, and place them on the ground in the rose garden. I would take a day or so, before they all left the box...I have yet to see them swarm out. A

Hi Alexandra,

My mind flashed back to a story my husband told me when he worked at UPS.

A couple of specially designed boxes with ladybugs broke open in the LA Hub and there were ladybugs everywhere! I don't see many ladybugs where I am at but we do get some.

Because I have a 5-year-old grandson, I am keenly aware of poisons that could harm him. I found a product called Dr. Earth Final Stop - Yard and Garden Insect Killer. Once it dries, it will not hurt bees or ladybugs but it will eliminate Aphids, Mites, Whiteflies, Fleas, Spiders, and more. I just spray wherever I see Aphids.

Hi Ron and Alexandra- how cute are those ladybugs!!!!! Since our weather has warmed up, I haven't seen the ladybugs in our master bathroom. I hope they're outside somewhere having fun and eating aphids.

What a delightful Sunday morning mood with this blog and photos. the aphids on our roses came and disappeared. I sprayed them with some soap solution from Trader Joe's, and now we don't see them this year.
