Wordless Wednesday - Wow! You Are Huge!!

Wordless Wednesday - My How Big You Are!!

My youngest granddaughter came up to the farm to see the horses.  One of the horses was a HUGE Percheron.  Now Percheron's are draft horses that are better known for being used on farms to help by pulling plows.  This Percheron was about 18 hands high.  (Horses are measured in hands.  A hand equals 4".  Therefore, this means that this horse is 72" tall, or 6' tall.  Now this does not include the head and neck.  The measurement goes from the ground up to the area between the neck and the back, or the withers.)  You can imagine what this toddler is thinking at this point.  But, obviously, he is not scaring her.  How would you react if you came across a horse this big?

Hi, Will!

This horse was originally an Amish plow horse.  My friend adopted him from them.

Hi, Hannah!

I originally came from the big city and know what you mean.  This is why I moved to Pennsylvania so that I could have a horse.

Good morning, Ron and Alexandra!

The horse was probably thinking, "Oh, my!  You are such a tiny human!"

Good idea, Ed!

That might be a good idea!  This horse can be a bit pushy at times, but a gentle giant.
