You've seen Google Maps.  Did you happen to notice the little feature called "My Maps"?

With My Maps you can create and annotate pretty much anything on a Google Map and then share it with anyone else.

My motorcycle buddies will use this to share a planned riding trip amongst ourselves.  We can then send the map to our wives via email so they know where we are going.

I think the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services has been spying on us.  They' are using the same feature to give updated and accurate information to virtually anyone, anywhere.  Here's their Google Page with all their maps.
