Attracting Your Real Estate Business of Tomorrow, Today

By
Industry Observer with Retired

Real Estate Brokerage: Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Real EstateLenn Harley an experienced expert on attracting the online consumer of tomorrow by bringing her expertise online, has set an example for all of us here on ActiveRain to emulate.

Her local posts and marketing of featured properties are not just causing the properties to be seen and then to be sold but to attract her tomorrow clients today.  As much as it is marketing, it is also expert prospecting.

Our prospecting or self-marketing,  whatever word you choose, is by its very nature, an ongoing process.  In the past years before technology provided us so much of our current real estate business reality, our prospecting had to be a deliberate process, usually done daily to reach consumers.  It was people connecting with people.

Today with our ability to reach so many with a good message, community and property information, being properly positioned on our Internet gateway, our message can reach many more perspective or tomorrow clients.

Tomorrow's real estate Internet Empowered Consumers have to be an integral part of your real estate prospecting today.  Web 2.0, collaboration and wikinomics is all real.  It is still people connecting with people and that is what has always provided us our clients in real estate.

Web 2.0 and our online presence is our new reality. It is the way of attracting your real estate business of tomorrow, today. As would say, in her own words, " I am not expert but..........". Take heed and remember that Content is King. If you don't know what that looks like, just follow the Yellow Brick Road over to Lenn's Place. She will show you.

Hi Lenn, I love the way you incorporate your message. If a person that is smart reads your message carefully, they will get the right answer. I am going to write a post about how to always speak in the affirmative to any statement from anyone and be able to get your across with more power than any any argument. You are a master at this and it is little wonder when people want to see results, you have it in great abundance. Love your reply to David. It should printed out and framed. :-)

Hi Andy, Thanks you so much for dropping by and commenting here. My only useful response for you would be that whatever works for you is wonderful. I am a little confused however. What huge part of your business comes from the Internet if your success comes from prospecting the old fashioned way. Are you being politically correct. :-) I hate that term politically correct, forgive me for using it here but there does seem to be a conflict with what you are saying. I am sure I am just misunderstanding. Don't give it a second thought.

William, thanks for highlighting Lenn and her success with her Internet sphere. We all need to communicate with each other and share what is working in our market areas.

Hi Gary, Always appreciate it when you drop by. I was just talking to someone earlier this morning about this very subject . Would you mind if I play the Devil's advocate with you fro a minute. A very successful agent ask me a question about this and before I could answer, there was a second part to her question. The second part was, Do you really help your competition beat you out of your share of the market? We had been talking in the context of agents helping agents on line and I was taken back by the question. She suggested that while what I was saying sounded altruistic, she was having difficulty believing that I put so much stuff there for my competition. I hadn't actually thought about this since I started blogging. It was everyone helping everyone, or were they. When we write we usually write what we know. In my conversations with Lenn, she would stress that I should be spending at 90% of my on line time writing for consumers. She also suggested that helping others with aspects of shortcuts on the Rain, some internet resources are nice, but otherwise, stay with localism. I did notice she doesn't veer from Localism often, mostly to add something useful that doesn't have a lot to do with any competition.

So, going back to your original comment: We all need to communicate with each other and share what is working in our market areas.

Exactly how do you mean this? The actual process we use to attract business or the mechanical aspects of it? I Actually do understand what you mean here, but I couldn't have had better comment to bring up what I was talking about this morning. I have written a lot of both. I hadn't even considered that there are hundreds of my local peer group that come over to read me , never comment and don't blog themselves. I wonder why? Perhaps, what I suggest that does work, actually helps them compete with me? It does give one some thinking to do on the subject.

William, One of the best thing about AR, for me, has been watching us all grow. Prior to joining this place I had one lonely little website that I paid no attention to. Now I'm almost a full blown techie!!!! And it has done wonders for my business. Web .2 is certainly where the action is......for now.

Hi Bryant, it's funny isn't it, how far we have all traveled.  It's actually amazing when you think about it.  I would guess that we would like to all known about all this long ago but there was no venue to force us.  We learned, later than we would have liked but we did learn it.

Face to face contact is critical in maintaining the relationship we already have - the internet is critical in communicating with new and potential clients.

I couldn't agree more Sharon. It takes a smile and a nod and some words to keep people knowing that you care. ANd then knowing that, they will stay loyal.

We have no idea of the total impact of the blog post we are writiing. People have talked to me at open houses as if they have known me for years. But we have never met. If they don't loke what you write, they will stop reading. Make it interesting and they will return.

Hi Elizabeth, It goes back to the principle that content is King and if we write those things that demonstrate that we not only care but that we have an expertise in , they will come again and again.
