Living in Paradise

What is Paradise?

I read a bunch of recent AR posts, and agents often speak of living and selling in Paradise.

Some of these agents write about wonderful ski resorts. Some talk about lakes, mountains, rivers and streams. Some discuss the ocean and it's mesmerizing waves. I have read about dry climates and warm breezes. A beautiful snow packed valley or a quiet hammock strung between two leaning palm trees.

The interesting thing about Paradise is that it seems to be an invention inside our own heads. When I was a child I would always dream about living by the ocean with warm breezes (and having the ability to swim in a pool year round).

Some dream of long walks on snow covered peaks in August. Maybe a lake house with nobody around for miles sounds like Heaven to you...I do not want to ponder on this too long or Michael Jacobs will call me a copycat!

I found my little corner of Paradise here on the Florida Space Coast. Warm breezes, Pineapples and huge Lemons growing on my back patio and easy commutes to amazing and fun adventures (45 minutes from Daytona, an hour from Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, two hours from St. Augustine, under three hours from Miami, Tampa or Fort Lauderdale)...and, of course year round swimming!!

I can see why you believe Florida is paradise, Jeffrey . It truly is. I feel the same way about California. We are so blessed to live in such lush, verdant surroundings!

Hi Jeffrey... you certainly made your little section of Florida sound like Paradise. Like so many things in life... beauty (and paradise) are different for each of us. I always thought it would be paradise to live in Paris... and I got the chance to do just that for a number of years. Yet I doubt that most people would think of a big city a paradise. And I suppose that's why in French they say "chacun a son gout."

Hi Jeffrey- if it weren't for my family, Larry and I may have stayed in Delray Beach. I get what you're saying about it being paradise there.

Hello Jeffrey - thank you for the mention and there's no copyright our stake on pondering.  Anyone can do it anywhere and anytime.   I encourage it.

Finding ones own paradise works in similar ways.  It varies.  By person and perhaps by time and other factors.  I am happy to hear you have discovered what is ideal for you.

Good morning Jeffrey. Spent many years living in Florida and swimming in a pool all year. Then my son moved to Chicago after college and paradise became where my grandson was. Enjoy your day.

Hi Jeffrey,

You are so right.  Beauty (and Paradise) is in the eye of the beholder.  As REALTORs, we want to let people know why we love our area and think of it as "Paradise"!  I usually talk about the weather in Sedona because there is a huge misconception of that the weather is like Phoenix.  It is anywhere from 10-20 degrees cooler.

I love Sedona...in fact my GF and I are planning a trip (if we can ever get traveling again) to your beautiful area. I love the Church and (of course) Snoopy Rock!

Laura...love that song. I am a NYC and LI boy, so a trip to your area is always fun. My son and I are hoping to take in a METS game this year (blah to the Yankees).

Thanks to @Kathy Stieb for the link to this post.  I come to your area quite a few times a year since my oldest son and his family lives in New Smyrna Beach.  I will be there again on May 3 to teach a Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource certification class in Orlando.  One thing I hope to do this trip is go night kayaking and checking out the bioluminescence tours in Titusville.  Have you done those yet?

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty

Yes, it is awesome. We have our own Kayaks and that is fun. Also consider a Sea Turtle nesting tour (just a little further south). It is just amazing (google the sea turtle preservation society website)

I like your idea of paradise - it has to be warm!  My little pineapple is about the same size as yours and I'm keeping an eye on it to ripen soon.

Jeff, I tend to think I live in Paradise, until it snows 24", but even then, it is beautiful, as long as you don't have to drive in it!  (and someone else shovels)
