I have been told that it was a wonderful spring day on April 27, 1946 in Cambridge Ma when Joe Silva, stood at the altar while Laura Sousa was escorted down the aisle in that church.
I once asked Mom, who baby sat for us when they got married and was rewarded with a time out.
The years have offered their ups and downs, but both still enjoy each others company. Maybe more so because they can't hear each other that well any more. They still live in the house we built in 1981 and someone checks in on them daily.
So it was only appropriate that we gather as a family to have a meal and a piece of cake, maybe similar to that day 75 years ago.
There are only 2 members of the original wedding party still around. The maid of honor, my mothers sister Aida, and the wrong bearer, Tony. Tony made the party, Aida doesn't get out much and the Covid is still an issue.
The photos is Mom (98) and Dad (100) with the ring bearer, Tony who was 6 at the time of the wedding.
Joe and Laura had 2 sons, Joe and Ed and that led to 3 grand children and 3 great grand children
We had a pleasant day and while it may not have been as grand as the original wedding day, the emotions ran high and all had a good time.
Happy 75th Anniversary, Joe & Laura Silva 4/27/2021
