She was an ordinary girl. Grew up in Philadelphia. Liked horses. Had a mom that was a bit goofy in a fun way. But not long after graduating high school, one day she learned that her best friend was being abused. So, she sold her car, took the money and moved herself and her friend all the way out to San Diego to start new lives. Ironically, the friend was there less than a year before she met a guy and married him and moved to Yuma.
This woman stayed in San Diego. She worked her way up in the banking industry in the 1950s. So, really, before it was okay to be a powerful woman, she became a woman of power. She met a man at a dance, dated, got married, and they started flipping houses in the early 1960s. Eventually, they bought and ran a couple different real estate companies, started limited partnerships to eventually own hundreds of apartments and even became recognized as a pillar of the community.
She lived by example how to love, forgive, keep a sense of humor, humility, kindness and excellence. All this while raising a crazy guy like me as her son.
Happy Mother’s Day!
