The Oregon coast was our main destination for this trip. After our "Atomic" stay in Astoria, we headed to Seaside, where we had reservations at the Hi-Tide Hotel on the beach. When I go to the beach, I want to be oceanfront... not oceanview or off the beach. We don't actually end up spending a lot of time ON the beach, but we do enjoy being able to see the ocean, hear the ocean, and watch the people when we aren't out and about doing other things.
The Feature image above is our view from the room. The picture below is Gail on the swing, which was on the path to the beach.
I am a chowder hound, so whenever I go to the coast it's search for the best clam chowder in the area. Gail likes clam chowder too but she's not quite as obsessed with it as I am.
One of our most memorable experiences in Seaside was the Seafood Boil we ordered for dinner the last night we were there. Neither of us had ever ordered a Boil before, so we didn't really know what we were doing. I know you folks in the Lowcountry probably find that unbelievable. LOL
Anyway, I got on the phone and started ordering, including King Crab Legs, Shrimp, Sausage, Potatoes, and Onions. When I ask for the total on the order it was $108. A bit surprised, I asked the guy how many days that would feed us. He said at least two. Since we were going to be leaving the next day, we decided to back it off and removed the King Crab. The total was now $28.45. Wow. King Crab Legs are expensive!
We aren't big eaters, so we figured that would still be enough food for the two of us for one night. Oh My Gosh... when we got the food we knew it would have fed us for 3 days or more! Sadly, much of it went to waste because we would be traveling the next day. It was still an amazing meal and a great value.
Of course, we had our golf clubs with us, so we made a tee time at the Seaside Golf Course. We played this course the last time we were in Seaside a few years ago. It is only a 9 hole course and isn't fancy but the people are nice, and we enjoy playing there. Since it's a 9-hole course, we played twice around.

Hi George Souto
I found some good clam chowder and some tasty salmon cakes too!
Howdy Carol, as a Southern California beach boy I can certainly appreciate the want of sights and sounds of being ON the beach. To this day I miss the sound of early morning, fog covered surf, slapping the still waters. The ocean smell. The Oregon coast is special with its beauty. Sounds like a wonder trip. Mark

Oregon isn't that far from LA, so I might have to go check it out pretty soon when I'm on the West Coast! :

Morning Carol.
Now that is my kind of a meal. In reference to golf, I'll be playing this Sunday but I must say, I'm just not into the game this year for some reason. It will either come back to me or this may be my last season.

Hi Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint
I grew up in Oregon and we spent many weekends at the beach. It is still one of my favorite places.
HI Myrl Jeffcoat
I always love heading to the Oregon coast where I spent time as a kid.
Hi Laura Cerrano
The Oregon coast IS a special place. It's been one of my favorites since childhood.
I bet you could, Endre Barath, Jr.... and when you do give me some advance notice. I'll be there! 😊
Hey James Dray
Don't give up on golf. Sometimes we just need a break. Just enjoy the time you do get out and play.
Hi Roy Kelley
It was fun to get out on the road again. We just have to be willing to roll with some changes which may become permanent.
Hi Carol- I haven't had a good seafood boil in years!!!! Yum. So happy that you got to play golf!

What a wonderful adventure! That food looks delicious. I don't think I've ever had a seafood boil. It looks/sounds yummy.
Yikes! Crab legs are pricey! I had no idea. I think I've only ever had them at a buffet once.
