Throw back Thursday

When I think of all the interesting places I have found myself in in my life I think back to my twenties. The US Navy was my travel guide and the experiences took me to many places in the south Pacific Ocean. In 1976 I found myself aboard this submarine cleaning a torpedo tube. I bet you never saw this in a recruiting ad.

I spent over 600 days underwater on this cold war relic but I cherish the memories...

Kat Palmiotti It is actually like being in an airliner with no windows, very smooth at operating depth, and we received 30 day R and R (in Hawaii) after each patrol.

Nina Hollander, Broker, Our patrols were 75 to 85 days at time. The only hectic times were when we knew a Soviet Submarine was in the area or we were at periscope depth where it would get rough..

I had been drafted in the Army but never got to see the world so I thought I would enlist in the Navy to see the world. There are no windows on a submarine Ron and Alexandra Seigel
