North Carolina Lifts Most Indoor Mask Mandates & Mandatory Capacity/Gathering Limits
It's been a long, long year... but today life in Charlotte and in North Carolina is getting back to normal as much as possible with the lifting of most indoor mask mandates (outdoor mask mandates were lifted a few weeks ago). On the South Carolina side of our border, the indoor mask mandates had already been lifted some days ago.
Masks are still recommended for the unvaccinated, in accordance with CDC guidelines. They are still required in schools, health care settings, prisons, public transportation, nursing homes, homeless shelters and daycares. Masks are also “strongly recommended” at large crowded indoor events like sporting events.
Businesses such as retail stores, shopping centers, restaurants, event venues and bars can still enact their own mask requirements. Many are now reviewing their mask requirements and I wouldn't be surprised to see many businesses begin to life their mandates in the coming days and weeks.
Effective immediately, the Governor has also lifted all mandatory capacity, gathering limits and physical distancing requirements.
So start throwing those masks away... and let's see those smiles we've been missing for the past year. As Nelson Mandela said "remember to smile." And today we have a lot to smile about.
“Look back, and smile on perils past.”
