Because of its history as a stagecoach stop premiered one of its town highlights, the Halfway Station. Amado's Halfway Station draws Hollywood A-listers in search of a getaway. These A-listers come here to see more of nature's beauty and to break free from paparazzi. During its prime years, Halfway Station was a stage for Elizabeth Taylor. Paul McCartney, whose "Stranglehold" music video was filmed here, at the Halfway Station. Amado is also a host to different prominent animal species. It is part of the second-largest bird species habitat in the world. Don't forget the giant longhorn skull known for being an eye-catcher and cinematic backdrop. The giant longhorn skull is the entrance for Longhorn Grill and Saloon. Another interesting place in Amado is the Cow Palace Restaurant. A famous steakhouse that dates back to the 1920s hanging on its wall is John Wayne, Douglas Fairbanks, and Mae West, alongside mounted heads of wildlife. The Cow Palace stopped serving in September 2018. At night, you can also enjoy stargazing with the help of the University of Arizona and The Smithsonian Institution through their MMT (Multiple Mirror Telescope) Observatory joint project.
