Today was a unique day for me on many levels. Instead of doing all the "normal" activities I changed my schedule to help my daughter paint her house. She purchased a Countrywide REO a little less than a month ago. This is her first home purchase and I'm proud to say she did it all by herself.
The home is in a great neighborhood, but like most REO's it was in a total mess. Over the past few weeks they have gutted the home and rebuilt it. Now she is running out of month! By this time next week she must be living in the home.
So in comes Mom to help. Funny, I used to paint and wallpaper homes to earn a living when I was in college. Of course since then I've done a few renovations on my own, but lately I find the best way to get something painted is to call a painter! Why I volunteered to help...
Well I know why, I really enjoyed being a part of making something pretty. That feeling of satisfaction you get when you step back an look at a job well done is unmatched in so much of what we do.
Well I haven't gotten that feeling yet, Hopefully it will arrive in a few more days, when the job is complete.
Painting wasn't the only break from my routine...Today was "Ride a Bike to Work Day" in Colorado. Now I must admit, as long as this day has been in existance, I've never been able to participate. Cycling to work sell Denver real estate is not the least bit practical in my part of the world.
But today, we it finally worked out for me. Of course I didn't ride the entire distance, I used the RTD Lightrail to cover most of the miles. I rode to the station, hopped on board rode closer to my daughter's house then rode the bike the remainder.
It was a wonderful way to commute. This morning the fresh air was filled with the scent of blossoming trees. I noticed things I would have passed right by in the car.
And I got my heart rate up!
Yes satisfaction was in my corner today.
Helped someone "just because"
Enjoyed watching my offspring achieve a goal
Parked my car for an entire day
Smelled the roses
And dinner never tasted so good!
Ah life is good...have you changed up your schedule lately to refresh your brain?
Congratulations on the home-nearly-being-finished! I can just picture you riding your bike with paint cans balanced on the handle bars:)
