Lannon is a village in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The village has a total area of 2.46 square miles, 2.44 square miles of which island, and 0.02 square miles is water. It is bordered by Sussex to the west and Menomonee Falls to the north, east, and south.

The village was originally mainly settled by immigrants. However, the first true sellers were Isaac Howard and William Lannon. The village got its final name from the latter, an Irishman who settled in the area with his bride in 1834.

Eventually, the settlement expanded in both population and size. At present, there are just over 1,100 residents.

Located just outside of Milwaukee, residents enjoy the advantages of a major metropolitan area without having to deal with the hustle and bustle of living in a city.

Because of its proximity to Interstate 41, Milwaukee is just a 30-minute drive from Lannon.

Lannon is known for its strong sense of community.

Menomonee Park is located on the border of Lannon. The area has 464 acres of forest, marshes, fields, and wetlands to be explored. There is also a 16-acre lake which was once a quarry in the late 1800s.

There are many trails throughout the park that hikers and cross-country skiers can take advantage of. There are also campgrounds perfect for a family camping trip.

You can also enjoy a bike ride along the 16-mile long Bugline Recreation Trail that runs from Menomonee Falls to the Town of Merton on the former Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad. A separate portion of the trail is set aside for equestrian use.

The village of Lannon is served by two School Districts, Hamilton and Menomonee Falls.

Most of the schools in the Hamilton District are within walking distance of the village’s residential areas. There are also many private schools in the area that serve students from kindergarten through 12th grade. These include Aquinas Academy, Calvary Baptist School, and Peace Lutheran Academy.
