Two of My Favorite Words: ADULT SWIM

By

Tonight I tried something I haven't done in a looong time.  I went swimming.  It was adult swim at my community pool (Braemar) from 8pm-10pm.

The water is usually not as cold that time of day, so I was looking forward to it.  (That is as much as an overweight female can look forward to going out in public in a swimsuit).

The lifeguards set up the swim lanes and away we went.  My fellow swimmers (the other three of them) were as happy as me to just swim back and forth.

Mind you, I'm not much of a swimmer, but I did some decent exercise.  It may not have been pretty, but I was happy.  I found it super relaxing to do every other lap on my back while looking up at the planes taking off from the local airport.

I got out of the pool after forty-five minutes of straight swimming, dried off, threw on some shorts and got into the car.  I was driving 15 mph in the community.  I was soooo relaxed.

I'm going every Wednesday to adult swim. I just wish it was more than one day per week.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Chris Ann:  How wonderful is that !  And... forty five minutes of straight swimming is a pretty good work out.  And... overweight female... nah !  I am sure you looked just great.  So... where are the pictures ?  Inquiring minds want to see... LOL.

Chris, this is something I do all the time from Spring through Summer both inside pool and outside pool. It is very relaxing. Keep up the exercise. I'm all for you staying fit!

Chris,

Sounds like fun!  I am glad you took a break to do something relaxing like Adult Swim.  We have a community pool in our neighborhood clubhouse.  Makes me think I need to get in there before they close it down on Labor Day!  Thanks for motivating me to do more than walk this summer!

Have a Colorful Day!

Chris Ann...

Although I have access to several pools, it's been 20 years since I've actually went swimming. But I used to love the "quiet" of it, just the slogging of the water as you churn along. You may have just inspired me to give it a try! Thanks.

Karen Anne:  No pics.  I hate being in a bathing suit, but losing weight and getting fit is more important that what people think of it.  I was surprised by how confident I actually was last night.  Helps that there weren't a bunch of people milling around.

Gary:  I think I will probably switch to my Mom's indoor pool at her community once summer is over here.  You know, that should be one benefit of global warming her in the East.  The pools should be open longer than Memorial Day to Labor Day.  :)

Kara:  It's been so long since I swam because I never had time.  I've been to the pool with my neighbor and her kids, but my neighbor is much more of a "step in the pool to stay cool, and spend most of the time getting tan."  I don't do that.  I'm a very pale complexion.  That's why this nighttime swim was perfect.  Didn't have to worry about sunblock.  Woo-hoo!

Irene:  You should go.  And if you're like me and a little self-conscious, see if your pool offers adult swim time.

Bob & Carolin:  You'll enjoy it.  I just wish my husband would go.  He's more uptight about being in a swimsuit than I am.  And he's not overweight.  I'll never understand him.  :)

Richard:  Your description is perfect!  It is very relaxing.  The only thing that would make it better is hoping into a hottub after the laps.

Chris Ann I live on the Cape and like you I enjoy relaxing by swimming which is an excellent way to relax and good exercise. Here weve got plenty of beautiful beaches to chose from. You gotta get your hubbie to go- the stubborn old goat. You can tell him I said that!
