It is that time again!!! 30 Songs in 30 days.
Like so many other baby boomers, I grew up listening to Rock & Roll. From the mid-1950s right on up to the present day, Rock has endured. Even when we think the genre has run its course a new record or album surfaces that brings us back into the fold.
In June of 2018, I launched an effort to write a blogpost everyday for thirty days. I called it The Soundtrack of a Lifetime.
Listening to the songs was so much fun I decided to reprise The Soundtrack each year in June. Over the years The Soundtrack has included music, and videos, from artists that I have enjoyed over the years.
This year I will begin with the Beatles. Why not? After all, I consider the Beatles to be the greatest rock band of all time. You can never go wrong with a Beatles song. The group placed so many songs on the charts it is hard to fathom. But the thing that makes me so much of a Beatles fan is that the songs stood the test of time. Even young people like to listen to the Beatles.
It’s been 57 years since I first saw the Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. For many of us it was a cataclysmic moment. The world of music changed that day.
I can still remember how many people criticized them for their long hair and wild antics. When you look at this video of the Beatles performing I Wanna Hold Your Hand, it all seems so innocent compared to music of today.
Sometimes the only thing you can do is smile and hold someone’s hand.
So here goes, Day 1 of The Soundtrack of a Lifetime – 2021 Edition
