Welcome back! It is Day 2 of The Soundtrack of a Lifetime.
Since we started with the British Invasion, let’s keep it going with a Rolling Stones song. June features two birthdays for members of the Rolling Stones.
Yesterday, June 1st was guitarist Ronnie Wood's 74th birthday. So Happy belated Birthday to Ronnie. Today, June 2nd will be drummer Charlie Watt's 80th birhday, so Happy Birthday to Charlie.
"Start Me Up" has become the most popular song that the band has used to open their live shows.
The song started life in the 1970’s as a reggae song, named “Never Stop”. But the band never really like the sound, so they shelved the song until 1981 when they re-mixed it into a rock song and changed the name to “Start Me Up”.
"Start Me Up" spent three weeks at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1981, and has become The Stones highest selling hit from the 1980’s.
Today's music video has the boys dancing and playing their way through a promotional video they created in 1973 (remixed in 2012) prior to their Gaots Head Soup tour.
Here is a fun way to start up your day.
