Vegas garden

There are times where I ponder and then see a correlation between my life and something else. Today it was my garden.

It is challenging to have a vibrant garden in Vegas. Most plants here are just shades of brown or covered with thorns and needles. Sometimes it seems I see people that either don’t appear like they are thriving, or I find they have their own thorns or needles which can cause pain effortlessly.

Sometimes you have to trim back a little here and there in order to create a thriving plant. Sometimes I have to cut back on things so that I may grow or prosper in other areas.

And, sometimes, someone’s got to throw some manure at you so that you can arise from that and thrive better than ever before.

And when the time is right, the harvest of fruit can be ever so sweet. Or the bloom of a new flower ever so amazing. And don’t we marvel when we see that occur in others?

Good morning Rocky. Sometimes you have to put up with the smell of manure to produce beautiful flowers. Enjoy your day.

Hi Rocky,

One of my favorite plants from my wife was a cactus that grew a flower out of it.  The outside of the cactus was hard and thorny, but the inside was very mushy.  Maybe, many of these people are like that trying to protect themselves

Interesting analogy between life and plants... I just came back from my garden and noticed that some of my plants are looking a little burned from the extremely warm and sunny days this week. I'm sure they will do fine and will become hardier.

Enjoy your garden. I have limited gardening skills but planted 13 different kinds of tomatoes and it will be interesting to see what we harvest during the summer.

Hello Roy,  the flower beds are not up to par this year because of my slip disc but I will get better and get back to work on them.

Hi Rocky- what timing!!! Larry and I were at Kickerillo this afternoon admiring the garden they've planted. I expressed the same thought that you did!!!  It is so rewarding but they have to be nurtured and often given a boost of love and fertilizer to grow. Just like us.

Rocky just like fire refines gold, and pruning helps plants grow, so to does the two do to the quality of our lives.

I love this analogy, Rocky! Like you, pondering does take place best when I'm tending my garden - it's really great therapy, isn't it?! We should all take a page out of Michael Jacobs' pondering book.

Nurturing makes us stronger (when we are the nurturer); being nurtured gives us a chance to stand tall and pull out of most of what life throws at us. I love a good win-win!
